is active in a number of other regions, such as the Middle East, South America, the Maghreb and Eastern Europe, and is taking every possible development opportunity that presents an acceptable risk profile to establish lasting foundations for its development. One of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT’s major strengths is the diversity and balance of its exposure: service agreements, short-, medium- and long-term agreements, local authorities and industrial clients, regulated/non-regulated, mature countries or emerging markets.
“WITH THE EDELWAY APPROACH, WE ARE CONTRIBUTING AN ADDITIONAL DIMENSION TO OUR COMMERCIAL SERVICES, WITH A CONTRACTUAL COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE.”
CONTRIBUTION TO THE EFFORT TO PROTECT BIODIVERSITY
2010 was marked by an international effort to promote biodiversity that was a crowning success. SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT participated in this effort through the 2010 publication of a document summarizing the Group’s efforts in this sector, its understanding of the stakes, and the initiatives it took to protect and restore natural diversity. The Group also contributed to raising the awareness of the general public and its employees through actions, such as support for the documentary “The Heroes of Biodiversity,” produced by Allain Bougrain-Dubourg and broadcast on France Télévision. At their own levels, SITA and Lyonnaise des Eaux have led a range of initiatives, specifically in the organization of site visits to raise the awareness of the general public.

THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY The circular economy fits into the larger context of a scarcity of resources in terms of both energy and minerals. It seeks to manage products “from birth to rebirth,” to recover reusable parts, recyclable materials and energy from products that have become waste. SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT has a key role to play in this transformation of our economic models.
